I have an '02 Jetta I bought used and i recently lost the only key it came with. I have found transponder keys online but I don't have the SKC to program the key with. Any suggestions other than taking it to the dealer?
Look through the immobilizer FAQ and follow the link to the resources section. I don't list it publicly to reduce the chance of the info falling into the wrong hands. Once you have the SKC you also need VCDS. Weigh this against the cost of 1 hour labor at the dealer. While you're at it, you might as well buy another key since key programming really only takes 10 minutes. If they're nice they'll only charge you 1/2 hour to program both keys.
