Hi,

Just bought a new Jetta TDI (Aug30th). First mods were to disable DRL's and put fog lights :) After reading the bluetooth book that came w/the car I noticed that the Phone button on the steering wheel wasn't working and the Phone menu wasn't showing up in the MFI. Went back to the dealer and I was told that they updated the code so now the phone button works but I can't get the phone book to show up. I tried to follow the guide from this forum "VW Bluetooth FAQ for 9w2, 9w3, and 9w7 modules on Golf, Jetta, and Sportwagens - with swap instructions" but it still didn't work. I was told that mine is a different part# from the one in the picture so the code would be different. My part# is 120-035-729-E and I have the 9w3 model. Any help on what the code is?

Nice, how did you add the foglights?

Does this help? http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a5/VW-bluetooth-FAQ.htm Do you have the RNS510? It says that if you have the nav you have to use 0010477 . The dealer should take care of this before they deliver the car.

Simply change the code (purple arrow below under the popup helper menu) from 0011077 to 0000477 if you do not have the RNS 510 GPS system. If you have the RNS 510 GPS navigation, change the code to 0010477 and it will display the phone book on the GPS display as well for dialing from the radio.

I blupearl. That\'s the code that I tried to do but it didn\'t work. The reason I was given by the dealer is that it\'s a different part# from the one on that pic (I don\'t have Vag-Com) so I had to take it in for the code. I also told them that they should have turned this one before delivery but I was told that Jetta\'s don\'t have the phonebook turned on, only the CC\'s. In either case the mechanic there at the dealership doesn\'t know the code he\'s supposed to use so the internet and you guys are my last resource :)
welcometomyturbodies Welcome!

I too would like to know how the fogs are installed. The article here shows installation the OEM way using a retrofit harness. Because the 2010 Jetta has unique electronics, I don't know this procedure will work on them

I strongly doubt your part number is 120-035-729-E because the first 3 numbers are normally 1z0 in your chassis code. http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/VW-Audi-part-numbers-system-explained.htm Look through this FAQ. Your part number is most likely 1z0-035-729-e (1z0035729e) which is the latest version of the bluetooth module before they switched to 9w7. You should have a metal box under the passenger seat as pictured in the bluetooth FAQ.

I can't remember where I saw it but if 0010477 isn't working, please try 0013022 (UK), 0013077 (US), or 0013477 and let me know if it works. Warning - it's an unsupported code so I'm not sure what it will do.

As to the dealer's claim that only the CC comes with the phone book, the picture of the Jetta with the phone book says otherwise. The bluetooth module is also used on the Touareg w/phone book and without looking, I'm willing to bet that the CC module is also the same.

Hi,

Yes, you are correct the part# is 1z0-035-729-e and I do have the metal box under the passenger seat...can\'t read my own writing :)

As far as the fog lights go, I didn\'t put them on myself, so honestly I don\'t have any input. I bought the kit from the dealer for $350 and had them install it for $180. I did read up here before I bought them but I wasn\'t comfortable doing them myself & I don\'t have Vag-Com. Lol coming from Jeep Wranglers to Jettas, well let\'s just say there\'s a little more electronics involved :)

I will try and go back to VW on Monday, try those codes and let you know. Hopefully one will work. Thank you for your help :)
Quick question - Once the code is entered do I need to reset the radio or just hit the mic. button and see if it works?

Thanks again :)
I've seen it twice and both times the phonebook automatically downloaded itself. Try pressing the mic button and seeing what happens and cycling through the MFD menu. The radio didn't need to be reset in any way. And unless you have the OEM GPS system, the phone book won't show up in the radio unless you have the European RCD510. It only shows up in the MFD.
albeagle,

The problem may be your phone; what kind do you have? I have an LG CU920 (Vu) and it won't download the phone book, but my wife's iPhone does and it shows up in both the MFD and on the RNS510.

Hi - I have Google's Nexus One. The problem isn't the phonebook showing up I can't even display the phone menu at all in the mfd
Ok so tried the codes at VW and no luck. Also did a scan for a vw software update but nothing ....
So anyone has any suggestions for the codes?
If you have that part number, those codes should work. The only other thing you can do is ask if anyone has vcds and have them try another code.
Albeagle did you ever get it to work? I have a 2010 Jetta tdi and My phone module is 1Z0 035 729 C My bluetooth with phonebook on display all work but I also did a mic wire from the rns510 to the bluetooth and back.
Albeagle what radio do you have? The premium 8 or the RNS510? The bluetooth code to get mine to fully work was not the usual ones.Did you try the code in my previous post?I have a 2010 Jetta
