Hello All, I just had my timing belt replaced on my 2001 Jetta TDI last week (ALH engine). Since I had the timing belt changed I've only got about 42 MPG. I was getting 47-49 MPG before I had the timing belt replaced. I talked to the mechanic that did the work and he said the injection pump timing may need adjusted. Any thoughts? Bear.

The timing should have been adjusted (using an official VW diagnostic tool or VCDS/Vag-Com) as part of the timing belt service. Let's hope that the engine was locked down at TDC using the proper camshaft lock as well... (Did the mechanic replace everything in the timing belt pathway? Belt(s), tensioner, 3 idlers, water pump, at least 5 so-called "stretch" bolts??)

Who did the work? You're about 40 miles from a very highly regarded TDI tech in Sunbury... Marquette Automotive...

Good luck,

Yuri
