I have a 2000 Jetta, I have damaged the chip in the key. Where can I find the SKC code(I have vag-Com)? I have another key from a Passat it has the square buttons can I use it if I can find the SKC code? Or do I have to use the older key-fob?

Check the FCC number and part number on the Passat key. If it's the same as the Jetta key, go for it. If the buttons are different, ie, your car has the round buttons, then the part number is different but it may still work for the doors. Check out the mk4 key FAQ, it shows where the components in the key are and helps explain it.

Its not going to have the same part # its the newer version, square buttons vs round/oval. Thought only difference would be chip.

The way I heard it is you either have the skc code on some little card thing or you get the dealer to retrieve it, other than that I've no idea.:)
