I don't have VCDS, so I need to check my N75 valve the old fashioned way. By applying voltage I should energize the solenoid and get continuity between the vacuum barb and the VNT barb?
I forget which but if there's no vacuum at the barb you know for sure. It's either one or the other. I've never tried it on an a5 Jetta but if you have the older style a4 2005 Jetta you can swap the EGR and N75 solenoids as a test. They work the same way.
