Hi guys. I recently picked up my first TDI - a 2004 Jetta Wagon. I did my due diligence, and found a nice dealer maintained PD wagon. It has 138,000km on it, so it's due for a timing belt change. I picked up the (oem) parts, and am going to attempt it myself. I stumbled on this forum while researching the procedure, and it looks like a great resource! I haven't participated much on any car forums for the past couple years, but I've been wrenching on VW's for 20 years now, and will try to chime in if I think I can help...

Later,

Mark.

Welcome! FYI, do a camshaft check before you do the timing belt. There is a writeup on how to do this in the FAQ. The BEW engine isn't as bad but some still get it. take a look through the mk4 buying guide for more handy tips and catch up maintenance.
