I don't think the engine mount is broken, if it has excessive movement during shifting or acceleration, this could be a motor mount. Slow down shudder is when you are slowing down from high speed and the engine bucks on it's own.
Yea, motor mounts don't cause vibration under normal driving, or bucking. Depending on age, mileage, heat exposure, etc., the mounts could be worn out but they last a long time and most peopel don't notice anything. Slow down shudder is something you will feel.
