Take a look at this and try to reset the power steering:

Normally you just drive and it resets itself. But at least it will tell you if your steering sensor is working. You also have to reset the one touch windows after disconnecting the battery, details are in there.
I don't know what would happen if you reset the steering with the steering wheel turned to the side but was this the case?
It also looks like you might a cracked door wiring harness:

After that, clear all the codes, drive around for a while, and see what codes came back. A bunch of those codes are related to the battery dying.
