Did you just change the axle or boots? 33 ft-lb, try some blue locktite. If the thread is dirty that could cause a false reading. When you tighten then, double check the torque, you may want to go a little higher.
Slightly overtighten or remove, clean out all the grease in the threads on both side, and use some medium threadlocker...and overtighten slightly. You won't be happy if the axles come loose while you're driving.I am a new owner of a 2003 Golf TDI. I have been going over the car and I too was changing my oil and notice several bolts loose on both axles. Is this a common occurrence?
Is it even possible to get the grease off these threads? I seem to recall that when you put the bolts back through the CV joints they pick up more grease, which makes the thread locker useless...clean out all the grease in the threads on both side, and use some medium threadlocker...
