So had a CEL and the car was also long cranking. 3 or 4 long cranks to fire. Car had just had the Emission Mod done prior to my purchase to smog so to the dealer I go. Replaced the fuel pump and no more CEL. Car still has to crank 2 long cranks to fire. A little improved but still not right. Thoughts? These cars should pop right over correct. My Jetta TDI would fire right off. In AZ here and garaged so the 60 at the coldest.

Sometimes it starts perfect sometimes it long cranks. Getting a new ticking sound now while it is warming up. Goes away once the car is up to temp. I had left the garage door up by accident and the temps got to the low 40's so the coldest start it has had so far. Not to long to heat up. 3 or 4 blocks and temp is coming up nicely. Also after 8 years in the desert sitting mostly with only 39K the DSG feels like she could really use a service. I am thinking low dirty fluid. Local Indy TDI wrench quote $269 which seem reasonable vs the dealers $900!
