Golf VII 2014 1.6 TDI.
I have been having a proglem with morning long crank. Every next fire up the engine stars right away. Outside temp no relevant. A new battery swapped.
Below some diagostic videos made with vcds.
Still it is not the longest crank I have been sufering from.
No ideoa where problem is.
Could You point any irregularities on vcds videos?

I’m not sure if this would help & if you have this in your model motor but give it a shot

The long crank every morning method is a simple way to get your engine running without having to mess around with carburetors, jets, or choke settings. In order to do this, you need to have a good understanding of how your engine works. You should know what each cylinder does and how they work together to make your car run. If you don't understand how your engine runs, then you won't be able to properly diagnose any problems. Seeing 222
What are you trying to say? read horoscope? I have more that basic knowledge but no mechanic area of experience nor knowledge about dizel correct values on vcds. Hence my presence on the forum.
Small updade. I have been testing - according to mechanic \s advice with outside temperature. Above 15 celcius (16 and up) long crank appears. Lower than 15 no long crank. Don't know what else to diagnose on vcds.

Coolant Temp Sensor bad ?

How to diagnose it? No idea how to deal with it. I have vcds by the way.

One thing you can try is just disconnect the coolant temp sensor in the morning and see if it starts better or check your coolant temperature by using your VCDS & compared to what the gauge in the car says

Hey guys, any fixes for the long cranking problem yet?
I started investigating/reading into forums once I started noticing my car did this as well.
Obviously it's all the Vag diesel doing this . I see it on forums VW, Skoda, SEAT, AUDI...
Hope to get this fixed, or find someone who can tell me a 100% solution ( VVT, fuel pressure or pump, starter,... many answers come by but none gives me a 100% solution)
Or should I accept it as 'a feature' (which is BS!).
I can tell you my previous car, an old Volvo diesel always started straight away,on a flick of the key, no problems ever, being it cold/ warm, wet/dry... thanks for the help.
I've also have the long crank on a 2013 Passat TDI. I've had the low pressure fuel pump replaced already to no avail. Engine has the new version of the oil pressure valve thingy.
It does seem to have a temperature factor to it, in summer(+15C ish and above) I have the long crank first start of the day, fine afterwards. Below +15C it seems to sort itself out and start normally. I'm a dummy so outside of Google I cannot help.
I am visiting my mechanic late next week (Holy Friday) Doing some vag scans it turned out that camshaft sensor (when longs crank appears) is late to read values. And some guy on defferent told me to do tests iinvolving engine rpm, cam and crankshaft rpms and for now it turned out that engine rpms (of course when long crank appears) are too low and start from 210rpm where-as the guy said- should be in ea288 engine at least 280 rpm. So my mechanic is going to inspect the starter, replace starter brushes, and clean the inside. I did test with coolant temp but in vain, no luck. I'll give you the feedback if it cured the problerm.
Following this thread. I have the same issue! Although I'm in America and have the 2.0 tdi engine.

I bought my car two weeks ago with 64,000 miles. It would start perfectly fine. But now that it is getting warmer (50°F+), I have this starting issue when i leave for work and then when i start the car to come back home.

It takes 3-5 seconds to crank over. DSG transmission with the push button start.

If i turn the car off and then turn it back on seconds later, it fires back on instantly.

I'll keep following this for updates and will report back if i find a solution.

There is a long thread on tdiclub that has a few ideas. So I'll probably try the simplest ones first

@Drewpul link to the thread?
I did some tests, as I mentioned eariel, and user Crasher -seeing the results, adviced me to change motor starter as the rmps are lest than 280 rpm (engine rpm 213rpms) Im gonna give the starter to have it looked through late this week. I'll give you the feedback after some time of using my golf. But what is funny is tha the outside temp. must have sth to do with long crank but no one can tell what.
