05 Passat TDI goes into limp mode at part throttle.
pull codes and it has a no definition code I took a picture of it but can't seem to find it now.
It only does it under light to mid gas pedal pressure, for lack of a better word. Had one guy tell me I might need to reflash my ecm? I'll pull it up when I get back home for exact wording on code/no code.
Any thoughts or experience with this issue?

How many miles are on the car? What gear were you in?

My car was throwing the P0299 code a few years ago at around 120k miles. I took it to a TDI specialist and the problem was the actuator wastegate diaphragm on the turbo was starting to fail. Car puts out more hot exhaust via the actuator in the higher gears which causes that rubber gaskety type part to crack and wear out faster. The mechanic told me not to climb hills in 5th gear. I listened and haven't had it go into limp mode since.

Hope that helps.

The car has 200k and the engine has about 170k. T/B broke and I just got another motor. Replaced turbo and have worked through the boost issues. It's a automatic car. I'm driving it and sometimes I think it has gone away and then it'll happen again.

I was having boost / limp mode issues. Turned out to be old brittle vacuum hoses. I replaced all of the hoses and the problem went away. I'd start with replacing them if they are old.

I have done that already. I am thinking my throttle position sensor may have a dead spot in it. But I think a code for that would some up also.Seems like it happens all the time just above 2k rpms
