I've lerked here for about 1 1/2 yrs now, since I bought my tdi. Lots of great info over here, thanks ccbb. I have just recently signed up after some stuff went down at a different tdi forum and one of it's users was banned, I won't mention dweisels name but you may be able to guess who it was. Lol.

Anywho this is a great place to hang out and get some awesome info.

Now about me.

My tdi is an 06.5 diesel edition. Has some great options now like Volk-l and a DG skid plate along with window tint. Also has that really cool camshaft wear mod, that started around 50K miles or so. As for me I'm a diesel tech for the largest railroad in the world, I fix really big diesel engines. I've been doing this for the last 12 years and plan on doing it for the next 26 yrs till I retire at 60.

Thanks again to ccbb for a great forum.

So it sounds like you had some issues with cam wear at 50k... what did you look for when this happened?

I've done UOA since 35K miles. The iron increased from 38 to 73 ppm between the 50 & 60K mile oil changes. I'm currently at 65K miles. I've used Pentosin high pro 5W/40 for the 40, 50, & 60k mile oil changes. I purchased the car certified used from VW so it's under power train warranty till 84K miles. I havent had any issues other than the dmf that I can remember. And I have yet to tell VW about the camwear, oh, #4 intake lobe is the worn one.
