Well, After picking up my 2012 Sportwagon after a couple of hours I started having issues with the passenger airbag.
With someone in the passenger seat the airbag on/off light started blinking. It then turned the airbag off and the orange airbag light on the dash lit up.
After turning the ignition on and off a few times it did clear. but after a few minutes came back on.
I had an "Airbag Error" message on the display the following morning.
I called the dealer at 7am on Wednesday and took it back. They spent the day looking at it and called VW.
VW said to replace the P.O.D.S sensor (Passive Occupant Detection System)and that the car was UNSAFE to drive. :eek

I called them today for an update and it turns out this is an issue VW are tracking as they don't know what the cause is and it is happening a lot.
Plus the kicker is that there are none of the parts required to fix this in the USA.
They will have to get them from Germany but are unable to say when they will arrive.

So I had my brand new car less than 18 hours and there is no time frame as to when I will get it back.

NOT very happy at the moment.

It's a factory defect although I'm surprised there are no parts in the US. My guess is that the same part is shared across multiple models although if they say it's out of stock, it probably is, there's no reason to sit on it.

OK, VW are now quoting 6 weeks for the part.

After talking to the dealer they are pulling the entire passenger seat out of another new vehicle and replacing mine.
Hopefully this will cure the issue.
If all goes well I should get it back today.

Airbag Issue Update.

Update:
Well VW USA were useless. still quoting 6 weeks for the part.
However the dealer stood up and removed the entire seat from another new car and swapped it out for me!
Everything is good.

Today she went back and I had mudguards and new alloys fitted.
I am very happy and she looks awesome!

Just got this error on my 2010 Jetta TDI with 12,000 miles, will call my dealer tomorrow to see how this plays out.

Registered a formal complaint with NHTSA so they can track this.

My Sportgaon TDI is 6 months old and just got an air bag error message as well. Is this still a problem other members have experienced? Sending it in for service tomorrow morning.
