I just had my oil changed at the local VW dealership. I asked what oil they were using, and the response was "full synthetic oil". The work sheet identifies it as follows: G-052-195-1L ENG. OIL. In another location it is called "LOF2 PENNZOIL FULL SYNTHETIC OIL"

Maybe someone can look up that part number and see if they put the right stuff in my car.

On an earlier visit, when I questioned the service manager, he gave me a quart of Castrol Synthetic 507 in a silver bottle.

Thanks.

Here are the part numbers for 507.00

VW# g v52 195 a1 (gv52195a1) for .5 liter
VW# g vw 052 195 m2 (gvw052195 m2) for 1 liter
VW# g 052 195 m4 (gvw052195 m4)for 5 liters

G-052-195-1L is also an acceptable part number for 507.00 5w-30 castrol slx pro. I don't know about the silver bottle but Castrol SLX Professional LL03 is in a gold plastic bottle. Here is a picture: http://www.idparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1134

You are correct, the bottle he gave me is gold. From your information, I am going to assume they put the right oil in the car.

I had mentioned earlier the grill had been broken. I bought a new one for a little less than a hundred bucks, and they installed it in about 15 minutes (while changing oil) and only charged $19.50. They seem to be competent at what they do. I hope they are as I do not work on my BMW motorcycle and do not intend to work on this VW either.

Thanks,
