Stupidest idea yet, because the moment you run boost, and compress air, you run into Boyle's law, whereas when pressure goes up, so does temperature. This is the whole reason why most cars with turbo's have huge intercoolers installed. If you want a cool charge at the valve intakes at the head (where it really matters) get a larger front mounted intercooler instead of a cold air intake, because the turbo charger is just going to heat it up anyways.I knocked out the standard air box and bought a cold air intake online. It was an easy change over for the most part. Next up grade is the injectors
Partly right. Cai isn't just to be a ricer. In a Honda yes. Not in a modded diesel. Although cai for tdi isn't truly cold air because is sucks air from hot engine bay it does provide more air flow. Up to a certain point stock air filter system is best but if your building power more than 2x stock cai is needed so you get enough air flow. So if your running stock people need need to upgrade. But if your doing injectors, cams, turbos and tunes I would get a cai. Intercooler are not a substitute for cai. Intercooler cool the air doesn't suck it in. I know these post are years old but I wanted to update the info. Also pop off valve I assume you mean a blow off valve. Which does have a purpose. When boosting and letting off the accelerator pedal the excessive air has nowhere to go but back causing turbo bark which harms your turbo. Adding a bov will keep your turbo running longer especially if your modded.Stupidest idea yet, because the moment you run boost, and compress air, you run into Boyle's law, whereas when pressure goes up, so does temperature. Kid's are all about stupid pipes, fart cans, noisy pop off valves, tubing, and hanging junk from their motors that looks cool, but does nothing. Complete waste of money, a cold air intake, on a TDI.
