I suppose this question is not necessarily specific to TDIs but...I have a '11 Golf TDI automatic. By my house there is a level street and a hill. It's much easier to find a parking space on the hill. I was just wondering if it is bad, over time, to park your car on a hill. Does it do some sort of damage to have it spend so much time on an incline?

Thanks

As long as the parking brake is applied. Its not good to allow the park lock pawl (pin) to hold the car, so engage the parking brake tightly before taking your foot off the brake

thanks for the responses. i definitely always use the parking brake - i engage it before putting the car in park, like the directions say. i was just concerned that even with the parking brake engaged, it might still be bad to be at a steep angle over time.

thanks!
