I think that once you're used to the mpg of a TDI it's hard to go back to a regular car. Even if you have something that is faster or handles better, I still like the mpg of a diesel. Yes the Prius can beat the TDI in overall mpg but I just don't like them.

If you want more luxury there's the Audi TDI too.

If you want an SUV there's the Touareg. Why would you not get the TDI engine if you're buying one?

I'll take the TDI over one of those hybrids any day.
They're getting close and to be honest, if I only did short trips I'd look at one, probably a Honda over the Toyotas. They don't get as good mpg but Hondas seem to drive a little nicer.
