Hi ebe. The price seems pretty high to me, that would be like me paying £750 in uk money. Have you tried looking for the price of a Gates timing belt kit and a water pump? Could give you an idea of what the garage is asking in labour costs. It might be worth doing a search on here to see if anything comes up. Also there's a really good "1000 how to and index faq" a the top of the page that can probably show you how to do it yourself.
