Hi everybody! My instrument cluster plastic part that prevents dust from getting in is cracked in the middle and I removed it completely. My original gauge is 160mph with chrome rings, and I was able to order a new one from ECS tuning for just $46. The new gauge cluster does not come with the chrome rings and it goes only to 140mph. From looking at some gauge disassemble procedures I see that I can separate the part that I need but I am not sure will the chrome rings stay connected to the gauge side or will they be removed with the part that I need? If the chrome rings will come out with the top half of the gauge then will I be able to remove them and install them on the new part of the gauge that did not come with chrome rings? Also I understand that the new clusters will have to be coded, but will I have to do any coding for my original cluster if it was disconnected from the circuit while I transfer rings and the top half of the gauge cluster on the old half of the original gauge?
If someone knows link with pictures and instructions that would be helpful.
thanks for any input. Al
