This is somewhat of a follow up - this info has been added to the bluetooth FAQ http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q_how_to/a5/VW-bluetooth-FAQ.htm

The part number for 9w7 is VW# 7p6 035 730 c (7p6035730c). Someone named vwpartsman let me share their pics of how they swapped their module on their mk6 Golf. The procedure is the same as before: pull the box under the passenger seat up, unplug the old module and plug in the new module. Some of the more interesting pictures that were added:

the screen now shows a bluetooth icon, how much battery is left on the phone, a small icon for the iphone, the network carrier, and the device name, in this case an iphone. Just like before, you can still dial from the MFD menu or phonebook.

The screen which shows the phonebook on the rns510 and the dial keypad. I'm not sure if the upcoming RNS315 GPS will have this capability because the RCD510 radio doesn't.

Maybe it's just the angle, but the 9w7 box looks shorter and wider.
Don't worry...the two boxes are exactly the same dimensions.
I would really like to do this to my car! Is there a link to vwpartsman original post because I want to know if any VAG-Com is needed or how much the part was. Is there any additional parts that need to be ordered?
It's a literally 2 minute plug-play. No additional parts needed.

If your car has a MFSW but does not currently have the push to talk button enabled, use VCDS to change the steering wheel coding. Since each car is equipped differently, you have to set the code to suit your car.

The sample codes were given in the MFSW writeup but here they are for easy reference. The codes are only for software version 0110 or higher. Since 9w7 will only work on white display MFD (which was introduced in 2010), your version is high enough if you have a white MFD. If you have a red MFD, the 9w7 VW Bluetooth module will not work no your car. The module will work fine without changing the code - this just enables the push to talk button on the steering wheel:
0001831 (automatic trans, no rear wiper)
0001731 (manual trans, no rear wiper)
0001832 (automatic trans, rear wiper)
0001732 (manual trans, rear wiper)

Here is where vwpartsman posted: http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6791 It cost $350 from a special group buy from bmwz1 (at) earthlink.net . I would not publicly post email addresses but he listed it himself online as his contact info. The first few rounds are sold out so you may have to wait.

I own a 2010 Golf TDI without navigation. I took out the 2w7 and installed the 9w7.
It works very good.
The question I have is about the green/brown light on the three button console close to the sunroof: with the new 9w7 the light does not come on anymore.
Do I need to do something with the vag com? If so, where do I find somebody with this device?
thanks!

It won't light up.

It doesn't even work on 2011 Golf with 9w7 from the factory .
