Hi! I got this wired problem with my VW Bora 2004 modell. I tried to start it with a replacement key, without changing the old immobilizer to the new key. So it wouldnt start.

But then something wired happend. I tried to start the car with my original key, and it wouldnt start then either. I also tried my reserve key but no luck with that.

I think there is a problem with the immobilizer because the car tries to start (RPM going up), then shuts down in under 1 sec.

Is there any easy fix as Im pretty sure both keys aint broken. It think the immbo is broken. Is there any fuse that can be broken?

Or would it be possible to fix this with a diagnostictool like a VAG-COM?

YEs, that is the immobilizer. It's not a fuse. Your 2004 should use immobilizer 3 so you can't use a replacement key half. You CAN use a replacement remote, the remote is in the other half. Take a look at the mk4 Key FAQ article in the FAQ and the immobilizer FAQ for some general troubleshooting. Here is a start: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a4/vw-smart-key-remote-replacement.htm
