Hey yall, I got a little problem with a 2000 jetta. I bought it from a guy who replaced the Ignition cylinder, problem is not the immo is not allowing the car to run. I've had some guys try to "program" it to no avail. I still have the old key and im wondering if I could take the RFID chip out of the old key and tape it near the cylinder? Do yall think this would let it run or is the new lock cylinder not going to be compatible?

Yes, that will work. Personally I'd take apart the key and put the chip in the new one. There's no chance of interference with the chip in the new key. Take a look at the mk4 key replacement FAQ and it shows how to do this. It's possible the new key is from an immo3 car. Your car is immo2.

Thanks for that fast reply!

One more thing I should mention..... The ignition cylinder is Audi, and the new keys have the audi logo. Will that pose a problem? I hope not. It would would sure be nice to just swap the transponder chip out. Thanks
