Ignition timing adjustment

Hi everyone,

I have VW Golf mk4 tdi 110hp.
Yesterday I had cambelt replacement, oil, air, oil filters, general service in one word...
The car, pre-replacement(pre general service) was like this

-Engine when cold, was starting in 1 sec
-While hot engine was starting with dificulties (more or less 3-6 sec)

After cambelt replacement, and ignition adjustment ..
-When cold the engine is starting with dificulties more than 5 sec
-When engine hot ignition starting in 1-2 sec
-When engine is cold, after night from exhaust i've seen white smoke, and the smoke was on for 3-4 minutes.

I am a little worried about this...anyone with suggestions ?
Thanks.

Is this a PD or pre-PD engine?

Yes, it's possible the camshaft timing is off if it's a PD or that the injection pump timing is off. We need more details on your engine/year.

The engine is 1.9 TDI 110 HP year 1999, pre-PD engine.Kilometers on the clock is 170.000 km
Yep, check the injection pump timing. Your engine should be almost the same as the ALH engine's FAQ article.
