Hi: I'm working with a 98 rolled beetle with a good motor. I found a 2000 on craigslist, good body, with a blown motor. I have the motor in and running and am working on cosmetics. In particular the 2000 only came with the valet key. After switching all the locks I found i had an immobilizer problem. I'm not fond of my local vw dealer and I really want to have two keys. Any one have sugestions?

The best bet is to use the SKC retrieval tools like vag tacho and then use VCDS to program the keys. If you do end up going to the dealer make sure to bring all the keys you have or else it will disable the keys that aren't "reset" to the new immobilizer syncing.
