I have had my TDI for about 6-7 weeks now, and I have noticed one strange thing. It usually idles around 800 rpm's, sometimes 850, and sometimes 1000, all while at full operating temperature. Car has 2200 miles so its pretty much broken in. Its kind of like having a vacuum leak on a gas motor. It does not do it often, but it is kind of annoying. Any ideas?

Any other problems? Nothing while on a cold engine? No problems while not at idle?

It's possible it's a boost leak or vacuum line problem but it's also very possible that this is a DPF regen cycle. When your car exhaust system goes into self clean mode, the idle goes higher. http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/DPF-Adblue-FAQ-VW-Audi.htm Here are pictures of the system and tons more info. If this does match your symptoms, feel free to report back with any findings.

Yup this matches what I have read so far and from other forums. I am just not used to it yet. I did smell a burning rubber like odor, as mentioned in some threads, so this must be what is happening, glad to know its normal!
