My original instrument cluster is unreadable and therefore, I cannot get the original SKC or PIN belonging to the car in order to complete my swap with a new (used) cluster. I was able to get the PIN out of the new cluster, but I need to somehow obtain the original PIN in order to adapt the new cluster via VCDS instruments (17) adaptation (050) to set it up with the original PIN. I am able to physically change the code of the new cluster to match IMMO-ID and VIN appearing in the ECU, but that is not enough to allow me to match keys to the car (FYI, I could go through the key matching process with new tranponder chips, and everything seemed normal, but as soon as I reinserted the keys, the IMMO light blinked again).

Basically, I think I need to read the original code off of the ECU, or I read somewhere that the code is linked to and can be read from the cutout in the keys. I used VAG EEPROM PROGRAMMER to read the Dash and get the login for the new cluster, but cannot use it to read the ECU. Does anyone know how to either read the ECU via the OBDII port and some program or how to read the keys based off of a picture?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. And no, I don't want to spend an arm and leg and the dealership let alone not being able to drive my car there because of the IMMO.

This is my latest Auto-Scan with the IMMO-ID and VIN matched only because I manually changed the code in the new cluster hoping it would help, but apparently the pin also has to match in both the cluster and ECU.

Vag commander is the one you need to read the ecu, no idea where it is but the cluster pin is in there somewhere.

In reply to everyone, I am glad to say that I have figured it out. Someone sent me the program, VAG Commander, with which I pulled the PIN off of the ECU. Then, with the keys with the original transponder chips in them I adapted the new cluster to the ecu via VCDS-Instruments(17)-Adaptation-Channel 50, where I input the PIN that I retrieved off of the ECU. Then, I rematched my original keys with the old transponders to the cluster and everything works, even the IMMO. I did not need to program new keys (transponder chips).

VAG Error Code: 17978/005488/6260/5523

EOBD II Error Code: P1570

Fault Location:
Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer - Intermittent

Possible Cause:
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active.
Immobilizer Warning Lamp ON.
Engine starting but stalling immediately.

Key(s) not matched.
Instrument Cluster not matched.
Engine Control Module (ECM) not matched.
Engine Control Module (ECM) Power Supply faulty.

Possible Solutions:
Check for Fault Codes in Immobilizer itself (part of Instrument Cluster in many cars, but separate Immobilizer Control Module in some).
Check Immobilizer Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) (usually in Instrument Cluster or Immobilizer Control Module).
Match Key(s)/Instrument Cluster/Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
Check Engine Control Module (ECM) Power Supply (Relay).

Special Notes:
In case of Engine Starting Issues please make sure that you are really experience an Immobilizer related Problem! Even if the Immobilizer engages, the Engine will still start fine but cut out after 2-3 Seconds. If you are NOT experiencing this behaviour (e.g. Engine doesn't start at all) your Problem is very likely NOT Immobilizer related.
May be stored in Combination with 01176 - Key: Signal too Low in Immobilizer Control Module.
If no other immobilizer related fault codes are stored and the immobilizer related measuring blocks are fine except Engine Start not allowed, in rare occasions it helps to try cold-booting the car. Remove both battery cables from the battery. Short the battery cables together (away from the battery) for about 15 seconds. Reconnect the battery. (Example.)
Low battery voltage (including a faulty battery) may cause Immobilizer system malfunctions and testing should be done only with a known good battery installed.

Would you happen to still have the VAG Commander program? If so, could you send me a copy?
Thanks in advance
