Hi folks,

Check out these two useful links on how to install the European option RVC camera that is integrated into the trunk/boot VW badge.

Best price I've found for these parts has been on ECSTuning.com but still looking for cheaper parts around before I order the kit.

I plan on too installing this in my Golf 6 TDI with the RNS 5100.

part numbers for Golf 6 are towards the bottom of website page

Big thanks, I was going to mirror and combine the info from those two sites but those videos really help explain it. I will give an honorable mention to you for giving this info.

You are more than welcome. Yes combining the two sites into one concise Golf 6 install guide would be perfect.
As a follow up to this post, I have archived the writeup from the camel site and hosted it here. The original website went down long ago so it's not availble at all. Luckily I have saved and edited it for North American cars in this writeup here:

It's now linked to in the FAQ as well.

You freaking rock! I'm going to try this during the summer : )
Before spending any money do a little research.

I believe the Euro version of the RCD510 is different from the one in North American market cars. There is an input missing on the NA version which means a camera cannot be retrofitted.

I may be wrong, but I remember reading about it in more than one place.

From the writeup:
For the display, you must have either the RNS510 GPS or European RCD510 touchscreen radio. It will NOT work on the North American RCD510 because the head unit is different (different manufacturer, different specs). If you are using an RNS 510, you should have firmware 1100 or above or else you may not be able to code the RNS510. Golf VI fitting differences are detailed at the bottom.

This looks pretty cool, any reason why it can't work on a Jetta?
It might be the VW symbol on the Golf is also the door latch. You press it in and it fold back. It may require fitment adjustments.

Yes, the Euro version RCD510 will work but you'll lose sirius and AM. FM will work fine.
Ι must first thank you for accepting me in your big community :)
Today i managed to install all by myself the OEM rear view camera in my Golf MK6..
All went good and i have clear picture in my RNS-510 (led screen - latest software version 38xx).
I also coded the RNS via vcds to know that OEM camera is now installed.
The only problem i noticed is when i m selecting reverse and in the screen i see the video from camera, i can not see on the left side of the screen the little white car with parking sensors from OEM OPS.
Please see the following picture in order to understand my problem:

As i have seen in many videos like the following in the left side of the screen there must be the OPS image:

Maybe i have to code something extra with vcds in navigation or in can bus
controller in order to have at the same screen both RVC and OPS?

Many thanks!
