How durable is the DSG auto transmission?

Just wondering what type of problems I could have with this transmission longterm. Would it be a good idea to take out an extended warranty. Appreicate all the information I could get. Thanks.

The biggest problem is the DSG flywheel rattling and failing. Poor shifting, clunking, rough idling are the most common symptoms. You can find pics of a cut open DSG flywheel in the clutch FAQ. They should otherwise be pretty reliable since they've been around since 2004 (even though this really isn't too long).
HPA has used them on highly tuned cars and they've held up fine.
Don't forget about the false neutral problem.
