Changing out the water pump and the new one looks like it's missing something. The old pump has this plug, new one doesn't. The old pump has no hole on the top, the new one does.

It's a bosch...I am thinking that I may just use it since the weep hole on the top and the hole on the bottom both lead to the same "chamber". Maybe the plug is because the same pum is used on another application and they plug it for this. Maybe twice the weep holes?

Confirmed, the new pump is defective, the other bosch pumps sitting on the dealer shelf don't look like this one, they all have the plug.
