Yes, you can add powerservice (google it) regularly to the fuel tank and pour some diesel purge into the fuel filter housing for the first fill. Do not use gasoline fuel injector cleaner.

Also make sure that the o-rings are properly seated.

As an update to the fuel filter articles, here is DanG144's .pdf file on what's inside the housing center and how fuel is routed inside it. This only applies to the 2 hole wide mouth filter housing because the 1 hole narrow mouth housing is built completely differently.
