Hi,
I am new to the site.
I just bought a 2005 Golf TDI 5 sp automatic.
I am a new fan of the TDIs.
The headlight lenses are very cloudy and the lights are out of adjustment, so I was thinking of converting to HIDs. I read an article on this site and it said that the daytime running lights would have to be disabled because the HID need full power not the lower power to run the daytime lights.
I do not want to lose the daytime lights and am open to hearing from anyone about the best way to make a conversion without costing a ton!
Also, it sounds like it is not simply a matter of changing bulbs.

incidentally,
if you keep the current housings, you can clean up the cloudy lenses with a kit from 3M,

I was skeptical, but follow the instructions and the results are pretty amazing.
I did it on my 05 Passat wagon TDI.
