Thanks for making this website it is very helpful, I am trying to change the timing belt on my jetta tdi 2006 model, my next step is trying to do the installation procedure.
To use the tensioner, make sure the tab on the back is in the slot on the timing belt's rear cover. Then use the allen bolt hole or spanner wrench to turn it until the pointer is in the slot. Then tighten the nut. There are pictures in the timing belt writeup in the FAQ section. Once you've done it once it's pretty easy to figure out. There are videos there too.
