I live on a farm in east central ohio. I currently have a 2001 Jetta TDI with 190k. I am in the process of rebuilding the turbo (with a new CHRA), decarburizing the manifold, etc. etc.

This is my fourth VW diesel. Each of the first three were 100% trouble free and each lasted over 300k miles. The first two died when the fuel pumps failed, the third (jetta) I gave to my son and it is still going strong at 375k.

I am trying to decide whether or not to pull the head while I have the manifolds off. I was thinking mainly to clean the intake ports and re-seat the valves.

I would appreciate any advice on whether or not this additional work is worth the trouble and money.

I am retired and don't have much money.

You could send a PM to Chitty and ask him to change it to LarryMoore, LarryTDI or what ever. He would have to notify you of the change else you won't be able to login.

Yes, let me know by email or PM. I didn't want to say anything in case you use that username elsewhere and wanted to stay consistent but Keithuk is right.
