We are looking at buying our first VW! We currently have a 2002 Ford focus Wagon that we have not been very happy with. Car loves to wonder all over the road when conditions are just right.
We are trying to find a slightly used Golf TDI wagon but can't seem to find many in Canada for sale. So the other option is to buy a Jetta TDI wagon from the US. What I am having a hard time finding out, is there a difference in the engines from 2009-2011? And why is the US version still called a Jetta?
Thanks for any help.

The problem with the ford focus wagon could be a suspension or tire issue. It's probably more suspension.

Have no clue why the US version is still called a Jetta. They were planning to just call it the sportwagen but decided at the last minute to not change the name.

Have you seen the sportwagen buying guide: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a6/2011-VW-sportwagen-TDI-buying-guide.htm ? There was a difference in the engine from 2009-2010 from model cbea to cjaa. Other than the small differences noted, the engines have the same power, use almost all of the same parts, and drive the same. The ECU was slightly different but the real difference is in if you add an aftermarket chip tune.

welcometomyturbodies and good luck in your search!

You will like the Golf a lot more than the Ford Focus. One strong suit of the VWs is high speed stability. They feel more solid at higher cruising speeds. If you're willing to wait more 2009s and 2010s will crop up. They're just too new for a large used market.
