I had a 4-door Golf TDI on order:

Reflex Silver, Auto-DSG, Xenon, Dynaudio, Sunroof, Cold Weather Pkg
MSRP $27,210

However, with the financing and everything I can get a CC Sport for about the same payment if you consider what I will save in fuel mileage. The CC has the MDI cable for ipod that is standard on the golf tdi and chrome tips which I could easily install on the golf. I have tried weighing the pro's and con's (tax credit, xenon on golf, leatherette on CC, CC is more expensive car). I was just looking for some other opinions.

I have pics on my phone but the apple I have at home will not let me copy and paste them. I have not had it detailed yet and still will be adding tint and possibly chrome exhaust tips.

Although, I have bad news! I drove it home last night and the vehicle had 8 miles on it. When I got home I had got just under 42 mpg, and racked it up to 31 miles. Unfortunately, later that night I went to drive it again and after a mile I heard a huge popping sound. Then the car sounded terrible, did not stay in gear well, would not let me go over 40 mph, and basically limped home. I had it towed back to the dealer this morning via the roadside assistance. I had to ride home with a friend and have no new car until monday....or longer! WTF!

Has this happened to anyone?

I will keep you in the loop! Especially since I work at the dealer. I am having them check it out first thing on Monday. It just sucks that it took soooo long to get the car in. This car was ordered in Oct. 09' for a customer. He took delivery of a different diesel, and I took over his order and added the extra's I liked. The car just came in Wed. June 2 and I had only been driving it for 2 hours.

However, I would like to say that VW has made huge strides in their reliability over the last few years and I am not just talking about the free maitenance period. I work at a dealer that has many franchises that include BMW, Porsche, Audi, and VW is a great alternative to those vehicles for the price. Euro drive experience with a little less power, but lighter on the wallet.

I would imagine this is a freak thing, and just keep in mind this is really only the second year for this engine

alright well the check engine light decided to come on this morning after I moved the car from a parking spot to the service drive. My favorite service advisor and tech will be doing the work. As she wrote up the order there was a campaign code - 24I4 with a start date of 6-2-2010. The description reads W-RVUTB 24I4/YL TDI ECM Software Update/Replace O2 Sens. Then the status on my car was open. We will see if this is the problem that happened to me with 31 miles on my new TDI?

This is what created the popping noise. The intake valve must not have been completely tightened at the factory, or the presure just blew it off since it was so new. You can see a little 1/2" gap between the silver piece and the black intake piece that I have no idea what it is called.

This is the intake valve reasembled. This is just infront of the front-passenger side wheel completely under the car. Assuming it does not come off again it looks like everything is good to go and I should not have any other problems since the tech also took care of the ECM Software update.

:yum: Now I have my TDI back and hopefully ready to put more than 23 miles on it. Like I figured though just a freak one time thing
