i have a 2006 golf tdi with 130000 kms on it lookin to do the timing belt, tensioner, water pump ect pretty soon. but i need more info on how much it will cost me to do, v.s. paying someone else for their time. once the timing belt is done, i will be looking at some fuel and breathing upgrades to add some more power, and a break system upgrade... definatly.

p.s. any questions reguarding machining, you can throw my way! got my journyman certification and everything.

The tools are relatively cheap but don't try to not use them because it will result in disaster or redoing them. Other than that you'll need a torque wrench, standard metric tools, and an engine support because the passenger side motor mount has to come off.

If you want to work on this car more you should invest in a ross tech vag com (VCDS). It will let you fine tune the camshaft torsion but it's not 100% required for the timing belt job.
