Hi, I drive a seat leon mk1 pd150 cupra the car has 107000mls on clock. I have owned 2 land rover diesels, a 300tdi disco and a td5 defender. This is my first real road performance diesel though. The car is standard as far as i know.

Recently i have changed the camshaft, followers, timing belt and water pump, after the cam ate one of the followers. Ive also cleaned egr valve. Just beforethis happened i had a bit of smoke issues, all black, which has cleared up. The car is currently running well except.......

MPG down to mid 20's

no boost before 1800rpm (did come in earlyier before breakdown)

I have some ideas, one is sticky vanes on turbo, i can only move lever 1cm or so. Two is maf sensor, already cleaned but i know they are delicate.

The two symptoms on the car were gradually becomming obvious before blow up.

Would appreciate any advice on this topic, especially how to fix turbo in situe.

Many thanks

Yes, sticky vanes are a common problem but test it with a vacuum pump and the movement to double check. Your engine should be similar to the TDI engines in the VW - Audi. Check out the VNT adjustment-replacement article for details.welcometomyturbodies

Also, since this is more of a technical post, moved to general section.
