Thanks! If you take a video of the engine running at idle and revving up and down it will be added to the other videos of bad camshafts. I would be curious how bad the pining sound is.
At least you are getting it done at the same time as the timing belt. Look through the new owner checklist for 2005-2006 Jetta and you'll probably find a few things of interest.
