Hi, Andy here

Long time TDIClub reader, looking for more/other info here for my 2003 Jetta.

Just had timing belt done by ninedee_golf_tdi, fantastic experience!

TODO list:
1. frozen alternator clutched pulley + serp tensioner and idler (yes, should have had parts on hand during TB)
2. starter (its hanging on a bit after starting) hoping to be able to clean/lube/reinstall
3. intake/EGR cleaning
4. struts and shocks
5. valence
6. cam lobes showed some wear so that'll be due soon

all for now.

Oops. Wrong forum, should have been in introductions...

Hi, welcometomyturbodies
I didn't know the cam was an issue on this age of car but there's plenty of info for most of the rest.

Yes, Tom was surprised to see the cam wear too. He showed me the finger nail technique to demonstrate the anomalies. I'll see if I can get the pics he took. There was a bit (est. 1/4 teaspoon) of very fine "silt" present on the intake side of the airbox when I swapped out the filter, which didn't look especially dirty. I suspect it should have been spotless and be a contributing factor?
