Hi Everyone!

I have been looking for some technical resources on the web and came across this site. What a marvelous collection of VW/Audi & TDI information! I decided to join immediately.

I drive a 2008 Jetta 1.9 TDI DSG with 50000 km on the clock. I've had Mk 1, 2, 4 & 5 Golfs, all petrol, this is my first diesel, first auto and first non-hatchback! Maybe the signs of growing up...

I live in South Africa, where this mk 5 shape is still sold as new, the mk 6 only planned for next year.

So that's me. Looking forward to participating in the community!

Yes indeed. Way back when the mk 2 golfs came into being in '86 IIRC, they continued to make the mk 1 golf up until a few months ago. It was sold in parallel as an entry level car, re-branded as a "Citi Golf". It went through various upgrades and facelifts through the years, but the bodyshell and suspension remained essentially the same. At one stage you could even buy it with an 82kW 1.8 fuel injection engine. Quite powerful for such a small car.
