Thanks for looking, my 2003 mk4 tdi 130 golf has alimp mode problem but only when its being driven on a motor way. I can drive it for hours on A roads without any problem but as soon as I go onto a motoryway and hit the 2800 to 3000 revs mark the car goes into limp mode. I have to switch it off and restart it to get it back to normal again. does anyone have any idea why it only does it on the motorway ?

Thankyou

Thank you for the reply chittychittybangbang I have had the car scanned with vagcom and the result was a positive boost devitation. I can drive it above 3000rpm on the A roads and all is well its only when I drive it on the motorway I dont even have to be accelerating hard or going up a hill, just picking up a steady speed in 3rd ot 4th and then limp mode :ugh

Thanks again chittychittybangbang, I have had the intake cleaned out and the egr blanked of a few months ago, this was done as a service item and was not related to the problem im having now. vagcom only shows up the one fault "positive boost deviation" the frustrating bit is why it only happens on the motorway :( I have replace the vac line to the actuator and the acutaor holds vacume okay looks like things may be pointing towards sticking vanes. il give it a hot run and see what happens.

hi guys, I tried the hot run it was okay if i went through the gears pretty quick taking it upto around 3500rpm between changes but soon as I cruised in 4th or 5th gear/s limp mode kicked in at around 2500/3000 rpm ?
