Hello,

The Driver's side window on my 1996 Passat does not work. The dual switch on the driver's side powers the passenger side window no problem. When I hit the switch there is no noise or anything for the driver's side window. I noticed that what appears to be a cord powering the motor was unplugged, it is black and comes from the front. The problem is, I can't seem to to get it plugged in to see if that is the problem. The window is in the up position and won't move. (We just got the car from a third party so I don't know the history.) If I only had a diagram of how this thing works I might have a chance. How do I get the window to go down?

Any thoughts? Thanks again.

There are a few possibilities, most likely is bad motor or wiring.

The door boot jamb wiring cracks which you should check as well. Open the door and pull back the rubber boot. Check the wiring there as well. I'm not sure what cord powering the motor you are seeing, pics?
