Looking for detailed instructions on how to adjust the headlamps on my '03 Golf TDI, namely which screws to turn and in what direction to raise or lower the beam.

Hi, welcometomyturbodies.

If you have the 2 white plastic allen key screws on the top I think the inner one is for horizontal movement and the outer one is for vertical movement.:)

You've got me there, you could try and google it that should bring up more answers. I wouldn't be to specific though, just something like "vw headlight adjustment":)

park the car so its a couple feet from your garage door. You're going to have to remove the protective cover on the dirvers side light (2 screws on the top under the hood), then its white plastic 6mm alan headed adjusters near the center of lights. just move them with an alan key and watch where they move on the door, then you'll know which way to go. Not sure what the ones on the fender sides of the headlights do, mine don't work.
