Wanting to buy a used Jetta TDI. Trying to decide on 98-03, 04-06, or 09. Concerned about camshaft wear on 04-06 engines.

Camshaft wear is a real problem on the PD engines.

IMHO, the 2002-2003 are probably the most well sorted out but I like my 2005-2006 mk5 Jetta because it's the same body style as the 2009-2010 and the trim I have is higher than any trim you can buy in the 09-10 in North America (package 2). I did have to replace the flywheel and camshaft but I'm pretty happy with it.
