Hello guys,
A few months ago I bought a golf 4 tdi 1.9 PD with a engine code ATD.
In the beginning it went like a dream, but now has developed some strange driving issues, when the engine starts cold, it has a clicking noise and if you push the gas pedal, the rpms will drive you mad, rpm barely move and i suspect its running rich( no smoke), when engine is hot the knocking sound from engine backs of a little bit doesn't go away and if you try acceleration on WOT when it goes over 3000 rpm seems like no power at all, checked with VCDS no codes no nothing, the power is not as it was before it doesn't take of as it was doing it before. I feel some judder while in 1st and 2nd gear low rpm. On WOT 2nd gear acceleration is slow until 2000 rmp then boom, power comes back until 3000 rpm , after that still going slow.

Timing belt was done 2K km before including camshaft and lifters, camshaft was a little worn out and my mechanic changed it.

My checks till now:
Vaccum leaks -none Tandem pump pipe moving a little bit
Vaccum pressure - 25 to 28 psi
Turbo vanes stuck- no they move freely
When you hit the pedal you can hear the turbo spooling
MAF reading - 235 at idle, requested vs actual difference 10 to 20 mg/str at WOT
Injection quantity 3.6 mg/str
injection deviation cly 1 : 0.78 mg/str
injection deviation cly 2 : -0.14 mg/str
injection deviation cly 3 : 0.00 mg/str
injection deviation cly 4 : -0.66 mg/str

Thanks

Test the maf under load, 3rd gear foot to floor. A bad maf tends to stay 550 or below.

More info on that in the faq pages, just use the bew faq, mostly the same.
