I mixed a few existing writeups together and edited the pics and fixed some typos. All the information on glovebox repair can be seen on 1 page and easily compared. Some people prefer to remove the entire glvoe box assembly, some like to repair it without removal. 1 writeup also included disassembly of the lock cylinder which is uncessary unless you mess up.

2nd, clean and JB Weld + superglue. Just be careful because the mk3 glove box doors can easily break by hyperextending it. All glvoe box doors can be broken by forcing the movement. And although the gear driven glovebox should be better, my gear driven ashtray on the Audi is broken. Don't know why they couldn't just have it slide out on a track with no gears. The ashtray is rarely used so no idea why it broke and not going to invest the time to fix it.
