Hello, I recently went under my 1999.5 Golf to upgrade my turbo and I noticed there was a gap between the bottom of my engine near the oil pan and the bellhousing. The back of my flywheel is visible and it seems like stuff could easily get in there and contaminate my clutch. Is that gap supposed to be there? It looks like it's there so you have access to the bolts that hold on the oil pan? I will be installing a skid plate while my car is still jacked up, so hopefully that'll keep stuff out...

Thanks,
Jeff

Are you talking about these? Here is a temp pic. The clutch is spinning pretty fast so anything that falls on it gets flung out. It's also clamped shut pretty hard (default state) unless you are stepping on the clutch pedal.

Wow thanks for the picture!!! That is exactly what I am talking about. I guess it seems like I'm safe, so I guess now I can lower my car down and take it for a test drive with it's new turbo :D Thank you!
