The MkVI Golf can handle a full size wheel and tire in the compartment, right? I am thinking of getting another rim and tire eventually.

I'd have to try it out myself, I'm thinking that it should fit. Btw your are giving your W124 E320 battle tank to your son? That's a great car! You'll love the TDI too!

I don't know if you ever saw this, its painful to watch, but its shows how solidly built the W124 Mercedes are. I wish I had bought one of these when I had the chance. It's good you are keeping in the family.

Getting back to the Golf- There should be Porto's surfacing on the internet in the next few months. I am considering the second set also with winter tires- I like the OEM Continental tires but seemly they have bad snow reviews at Tire Rack.com. This past winter was a good one in terms of snowfall as you know. At some point I may keep the Porto's for the winter set and go with a different wheels for the warmer weather. We shall see.

I agree, I have a 4wd 4Runner and the only time I'd use the 4WD was while driving on the beach to go fishing. Most of my other cars were FWD and snow was never a problem unless you were plowed in.
