So after about a year trying to daignose a low power issue on my wife's 2002 Golf, I get nowhere.
Today before heading out on a 90 km trip to Toronto, I did a fuel filter change and a DieselPruge, first one in over 200,000kms since new.
All seemed well, no bubbles, no troubles right, on we go.
On the return trip car felt like turbo was wide open and really no boost or power, but no MIL's or anything.
When I got home I dug inot it a little deeper, found the clear fuel supply line looked like MILK, not right. Immediately I suspect the fuel filetr I had just replaced, maybe it was defective???
Looked at the seals, pulled all the air out with hand vac pump, cracked the injectors, I could not get fuel.
Finallyt pulled out some fuel line I had purchased for my '71 SuperBeetle and what do you know it's the same size!! Install new lines(supply and return) prime the pump, bleed the lines and fires right up. POS fuel lines were dried out.
I did replace the VAC lines, Fuel Temp Sensor, ceaned the intake, reduced the EGR function with VCDS, cleaned the EGR and ASV, confirmed the VNT actuator, the list goes on.
Hope this is the last step and the turbo isn't pooched.:dunno
